Google, Microsoft, Pontiflex and the IAB Discuss Mobile

Google, Microsoft and Pontiflex came together yesterday for a panel moderated by the IAB to discuss “Mobile Marketing Best Practices”.   The panel was held at Appnation’s Advertising and Media Summit here in NYC.

The theme that emerged from the panel discussion was that  online marketing solutions don’t translate to mobile, this includes measuring success by clicks.  All of the panelists agreed that mobile users are a much more engaged audience and it’s crucial that marketers use to their  advantage what the mobile medium offers that other channels don’t like, local targeting, direct response marketing, immediacy and click-to-call.

When Anna Bager, the VP of the IAB’s new Mobile Center of Excellence, asked the panelists what their advice would be to marketers trying to navigate the mobile space, many of the responses stressed the importance of having an immediate CRM strategy to keep the conversation going with new customers generated from mobile campaigns while they are still engaged.

Great insights from all of the panelists!
