Study shows social marketers must first build trust by email

We all hear of advertisers looking to launch social marketing programs.

But just what is the first step that a social marketer should take? How can marketers crack the code to good social marketing?

A new survey conducted by Pontiflex and Harris Interactive might just have the answer. As seen in this article in Mediaweek, brands need to build trust with consumers before engaging them on social networking sites.

And an overwhelming majority of online users (96%) have provided their email addresses to receive special offers and information from brands. And email builds trust – according to the survey, 68% are more likely to trust a brand they hear from often.

So as this article in today’s Wall Street Journal “Is Email Dead“  suggests, email is not dead. In fact, it is an important communications vehicle that breathes life into social network marketing.
