Video Ad to Appear in Paper Magazine

August 20, 2009 at 11:27 am Leave a comment

An article in the BBC today said that a September issue of Entertainment Weekly will contain video ads for CBS and Pepsi in their print edition. This is a genuine first for the advertising industry.

While a) the lack of ability for the consumer to interact with the ad and b) the low seven figure price tag for 10,000 copies mean that this strategy is not for greater performance (which is what is driving the shift of dollars to online media forms), it could very well herald a step in that direction.

And to the spirit of advertisers willing to try new and different things — Bravo, Kudos (and other words to that effect)
